Police are looking for witnesses after a hit-and-run incident.

Detectives at Saltcoats CID are appealing for witnesses after a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the B7081, Long Drive, close to the Newmore Roundabout, on Saturday, February 11, 2017.

At around 10.20am on Saturday morning, police and emergency services responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision between a Vauxhall Corsa and a Jaguar S-Type on the B7081, close to the Newmoor Roundabout.

The driver of the Corsa, a 50-year-old man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital by ambulance to receive treatment for serious injuries.

He remains in hospital where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

Detective Inspector Mick Carr, Ayrshire Division CID, said: “A man requires hospital treatment following a serious road traffic collision.

"From what we understand, following the collision, two men abandoned the Jaguar car and entered a black Mercedes car, driven by a third man.

“The men then leave the scene of the road traffic collision, heading north along the B7081.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and we are yet to trace the black Mercedes which left the area.

“Anyone with information surrounding this collision is asked to contact police. If you witnessed the crash and have not yet contacted police, please contact officers with any information you may have.”
