A date has now been set for Kilwinning’s annual fireworks display.

Kilwinning Community Fireworks display will be held, appropriately enough, on Sunday, November 5, and this year there will be two displays instead of one.

The community event, sponsored by a variety of community partners, will be held in McGavin Park all going well.

The stage will once again be on offer to local singers and musicians to help show off what great talent Kilwinning has to offer throughout the night, with three talented individuals already booked.

Councillor Donald Reid, the main organiser for the event explained: “A short low noise display for those who can’t stand bangs and for young families at 6pm.

“The big display with even more bangs for a full 18 minutes assemble at 6.45pm.

“There will still be the free balloon artists and the fire acts to entertain everyone plus all that we have done in the last four years.

“The support is greatly appreciated and we are delighted to say Kilwinning talent will definitely be on stage with three brilliant local artists already confirmed.”

He added: “We just wanted to do something else for this year as our 5th display develops.

“Last year we had 9,000 at the event, We are planning for that again in McGavin Park, although if a new interest comes forward to take over aspects of the park we would want to work with them.”

The committee says it welcomes any support from community partners, financially or in kind.

Partners receive in return publicity on social media, banners and press releases and getting to support Kilwinning’s biggest local event.
