Greenwood Academy will host candidates for Irvine West, East and South Wards, ahead of May’s council election.

Hustings are the opportunity for the voting public to hear the policies and views of those standing for Election and also to ask questions about matters of concern to the voters.

Organised by Irvine’s GSB (Giving Something Back) Group, the Hustings at Greenwood will have representatives of all the Parties standing in the three Irvine Wards plus the individual Candidates – making a total of seven in total on the platform.

Rev Willie Boyd, who will chair the hustings said: “Local Elections are about voting for people to represent the local community.

"Councillors represent the views and opinions of the public and are responsible for deciding how the Council spends its money and provides local services.

“The Hustings therefore is a good opportunity for voters to gain information firsthand before they vote and the GSB Group is pleased to be arranging this event.”

Council responsibilities include education, social care, tackling poverty, housing, roads and public transport, leisure and libraries and waste management – all matters which affect all of us one way or another.

The hustings at Greenwood on Thursday, April 27 is open to all voters and doors open at 7pm.
