A 31-year-old man has admitted to following two women, one of whom was a teenager, and touching one of them, in Irvine and Ardrossan.

William Leishman, who is currently living at Woodland View Hospital in Irvine, recently pleaded guilty to two charges at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

On December 6, at Kilwinning Road in Irvine, and at Dreghorn’s Main Street, Leishman approached a 16-year-old woman unknown to him and tried to engage her in conversation.

He followed the teen onto a bus, moved to a seat near to her, stared at her, exited the bus at the same stop as her and repeatedly followed her.

On the same date at Dreghorn’s Main Street and at Glasgow Street in Ardrossan, Leishman approached another woman unknown to him and attempted to make conversation with her.  He made inappropriate comments towards the woman, followed her onto a bus, moved to a seat near to her, stared at her, left the bus at the same stop as her, stood closely behind her while touching her on the body, and followed her upon leaving the bus.

Leishman was due to return to the court for sentencing last week but was absent and so was represented by his solicitor Paul Gallagher.  Sentence was deferred for Leishman to be of good behaviour until July 31.
