A KILWINNING man has smashed fundraising targets after holding a charity football match.

Lee Quinn, set up the Scott Laughlan Together Fund (SLTF) as part of the Butterfly Trust in memory of his best friend Scott, which raises money for Cystic Fibrosis research.

Constantly raising funds, Lee organised a Spanish football fans derby at the Kilwinning Sports Centre on Saturday.

Real Madrid fans clashed with Barcelona fans and Barcelona triumphed winning 3-0.

The football was followed by a 90s night and a grand total of £547.31 was raised for the charity.

Lee said: "“Scott had cystic fibrosis for a long time, but he had a supportive family, who continue to support me in the charity events.

“He lost his battle with the disease last year when he was 23.

"Everything went amazingly and everyone mucked in to help.

"There was a couple of dodgy tackles, but everyone had so much fun.

"The biggest thank you goes out to each person who showed up to either event.

"It's all down to you all who make things like this a success.

"I'd like to thank the guys at KSC for preparing the pitch yesterday, the Fire Service, Face painter (Trading Faces) Kim's Chip van, Danny Nickerson (5asideAstro) Shaun Black (Music) and Tammy Price (photography) for providing their services, the match officials and all the players and two managers who took part in the game.

"Thank you to the Colin Young, the DJ and bar staff at the Woodwynd Hall for hosting our 90s night and to those who donated to the raffle.

"It's been a massive team effort and I'm really proud we gave Scott an opening day and night to remember."
