The newly-refurbished Townhouse is hosting its latest exhibition as it celebrates the summer of golf in North Ayrshire.

From Monday, June 19, a host of memorabilia from the game – including original equipment, trophies, and vintage clothing – will be on display alongside some of the latest work from acclaimed artist Craig Campbell.

The world-renowned Ayrshire artist will be displaying some of his most recent golf-themed work.

The exhibition has been organised to tie in with the Aberdeen Asset Management Men’s and Ladies Scottish Opens which take place next month at Dundonald Links.

As well as the exhibition, the Townhouse has already hosted a number of wedding ceremonies and is also the proud owner of two fantastic touch-screen digital screens.

The first screen provides an in-depth look back at the building and the surrounding area’s long and varied history.

The other is a more up-to-date analysis of the building and details of the intricate refurbishment process.

Both are free to use and available to the public. The genealogy section of the Townhouse is due to open shortly and will provide the people of North Ayrshire with a resource that will enable them to check out their family history.

The official opening of the Townhouse is due to take place on Thursday, July 13 to coincide with the start of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

Councillor Louise McPhater, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “The Portal has proved a fantastic facility since opening earlier this year – and we’re pretty sure the Townhouse will have a similar impact.

“The wedding ceremonies that have taken place have already proved successful, while we’re sure the Golf exhibition will prove really popular.

“The new digital screens are also going to be a fantastic resource and will be getting updated on a regular basis with more and more information.”
