A beach pavilion toilet has been vandalised, only three weeks after vandals ripped out the facility’s other toilet bowl.

Coastwatch, who manage the facility after fighting to keep it open, have expressed their anger after a ‘mindless idiot’ ripped out the cistern on Sunday.

Coastwatch manager Billy Lamb said: “Someone ripped the cistern off the wall in the gents toilet at the Beach Pavilion. The cistern is cracked and useless.

“The toilet was flooded and we closed the toilets to clean up.

“Closing the toilets on such a busy day does no one any good and the mindless idiot who vandalised the toilet is not helping. Coastwatch are trying their best to keep this facility open for the good of the community. We are now down to one WC in the gents until replacement parts and repairs are completed.

“This ongoing problem of mindless vandalism is a burden on our finances. Purchasing new replacement parts and labour is not cheap.”

Although they haven’t reported the incident to the police, Mr Lamb added: “We have recording security cameras around the Pavilion block, but obviously not inside the toilets.

“Although we can check the recordings we can’t identify the person or persons involved . Some cameras have sound recording, so we will try and match the sound of a cistern hitting the floor and voices at the same time to look at who went and out."
