At around10.30pm on Saturday, June 17, officers received reports of a man acting suspiciously near a house in Meadow Avenue, Irvine.

Following enquiries police arrested a 43-year-old man for allegedly being found in circumstances where it could reasonably be inferred he intended on committing theft.

Sergeant Jason Peter, of the Irvine Locality Policing Team, said: "The arrest of both these men are as a direct result of the local community reporting suspicious behaviour and the swift actions of local response policing officers. We would like to thank the community for their continued support.

"We would encourage anyone who sees someone acting suspiciously to act on their instincts and report their concerns - it is better that we are called and not needed than needed and not called.

"Residents and businesses should regularly review the security of their property and visit the Keep Safe pages of the Police Scotland website for the latest advice.

"Both men were held in police custody to appear at Court and full reports sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
