An 18-year-old man maliciously damaged cars in Kilwinning and his friend assaulted a policeman.

Owen McTaggart, of Glenapp Place in Kilwinning, pled guilty to two charges at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.

His plea of not guilty to a third charge was accepted by the prosecutor.

McTaggart appeared alongside a 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The 17-year-old pled guilty to two charges with a plea off not guilty to a third charge accepted.

On April 22 at Woodwynd, McTaggart maliciously stood on the bonnets of cars and caused damage to them and smashed their windscreens.

On the same date at King Street, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, shouted, sore, was aggressive and uttered threats of violence.

Also on April 22 at King Street, McTaggart’s 17-year-old friend jumped on a police constable’s back and attempted to punch him on the head.

Sentence was deferred until September for both teens in order for the court to obtain reports.

Both were granted bail until then.
