As Marymass draws ever closer with the release of the official programme, the festival’s committee have announced that the town’s community station will host five live roadshows through the festivities.

Irvine Beat FM will host five live roadshows throughout the celebrations, including the crowing of Marymass Queen elect Miss Payton McGrath on Saturday 26 August at noon.

Marymass Festival 2017 kicks off on Thursday, August 17 with Irvine Beat roadshow at Irvine Townhouse at 8pm, starting with heats for the Marymass talent show with first prize of £100.

The Choosing of the Carters Captain will be held at the Volunteer rooms, between Brother Danny Kerr and Brother Marr Bell.

This will be announced at Irvine Townhouse at 9.30pm follow by the sashing of Marymass Queen and her four Maries and the unfurling of the Marymass flag.

The Carters’ Gala Day will be held on Saturday, August 19 at The Low Green from 1pm-4pm.

Irvine Beat roadshow will host the event, which include children’s races, charity stalls and the Final of Marymass talent show, with the first prize £100.

Saturday night will see Festival of Light procession starting at The Townhouse at 9pm followed by Firework display at Irvine Moor at 8pm.

The Crowning of Marymass Queen elect Miss Payton McGrath is scheduled for Saturday 26 August at Midday.

Irvine Beat Roadshow will start the celebrations at 10.30am with live music from North Ayrshire Youth bands and entertainment from Isle of Cumbrae pipe band before the Crowning.

The Marymass Parade will head out to Irvine Moor for an afternoon’s sport featuring our ancient horseracing.

Irvine Beat Roadshow present music and announce dance groups. musicians on to the stage from 1pm- 5pm.

The community station are also giving you the chance to win cash prizes with the Marymass Talent Competition.

The lucky winner will receive a £100 cash prize, with the second placed entrant to receive £50 and £25 for third place.

To enter you must be over 15, not in a professional or signed act, any bands must use a backing beds or acoustic instruments.
