Tributes have been paid to a young Ayrshire man who died in Bulgaria while on holiday with 18 of his friends.

Cameron Russell, 20, was in the popular resort of Sunny Beach when he died following an accident.

The digger driver from Dalry was rushed to hospital on Thursday after an incident close to the Chaika Beach Hotel. Despite the efforts of doctors he could not be saved and he died the following morning.

In a heartbreaking tribute his sister Katie tweeted: "Genuinely never felt pain like the heartache I feel right now. How are we ever supposed to get over this? I am broken.

"How have I woken up and this wasn’t a nightmare? My full body is numb. This just can’t be real."

Cameron- nicknamed Buff- worked for waste management firm Clearwater. Last night the company paid tribute to him on their Facebook page.

A statement read: "It’s with great sadness I have to tell everyone we lost one of our young digger drivers after a tragic accident on holiday.

"Cameron ‘Buff’ Russell started with the company three years ago and just turned 20 a few weeks ago.

"He was a credit to the company and his mother and father. RIP young Cammy, you will be sorely missed."

Dalry Tartan AFC also paid tribute online, saying: "Cammy was loyal and true to the club. It’s not only a loss to our club but to the Community in Dalry.

"Cammy was a genuine good guy, not only a player but also a close friend to all of us who will always be in our hearts and greatly missed.

"Shine bright young legend, love and miss you wee man."

Cameron's friends also flooded social media with tributes.

Danielle Hay said: "My heart is breaking. Cameron ‘Buff’ Russell, you were a treasure and always a part of our family. Love you until we meet again."

Gemma Madden posted: "Absolutely heartbroken. Will never forget you, Cameron ‘Buff’ Russell.". I have no words right now. Rest easy lovely."

While Gregg Irving added: "Rest easy to such a great lad and better friend, Cameron Buff Russell you will be missed by everyone who knew you mate."

An investigation into Cameron's death is being carried out by police.
