A man and woman have been arrested following the alleged theft of tools from a garden shed in Kilwinning.

Police received reports of a man and woman acting suspiciously at a property in Muirfield Place, Kilwinning at around 4.15pm hours last Tuesday.

Officers attended and during enquiries recovered property which was alleged to have been stolen.

A 42-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman were arrested for alleged theft by housebreaking in relation to this incident and held in Police custody to appear at Court.

Inspector Convery, of Ayrshire Police Division, said: “The timely actions and vigilance of the person alerting police to this incident has enabled officers to recover property and arrest two people.

"We are committed to tackling issues of local concern and to working with communities to make North Ayrshire a safer place.
