TRIBUTES have been paid to an Irvine Carter who passed away last week.

Matt Bell died aged 74 last week after more than 30 years serving in the Irvine Carter’s Society.

Matt was also a member of the Salvation Army where he played the Trumpet.

The father-of-three, who was from Kilwinning, was heavily involved in the Love Memorial Hall.

Matt was instrumental in saving it from closure after setting up a fundraising committee.

Fellow Carter Andy Tremble paid tribute to “ a lovely man”.

He said: “Matt was a lovely man. He was always involved in the stewarding side of things with the Carters and no matter what we were doing or planning he was always keen to help out. Just a lovely guy. He will be missed.”

Matt is survived by his three children Caroline, Gillian and Matthew. His funeral will take place on Thursday, September 21 at 1pm in the Co-Operative Funeral Parlour in Kilwinning.
