Scottish Maritime Museum Curator, Fiona Greer has received the UK-wide Robert Logan Award 2017, for outstanding contribution to the development to the Museum and improving the experience for visitors to the attraction.

Her achievements for winning the reward include, creating nationally significant are collection at the Museum and for establishing the multi-award winning illumination: For example, Harbour Festival of Light.

Art Fund and the National Fund Acquisitions, already include works by artists including Ian Hamilton Finlay, Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell, George Wyllie, Tom Mckendrick, Muirhead Bone, Benno Schotz and Patrica Cain.

The Robert Logan Award 2017, open to people under 30 years of age working in heritage sector, recognises those, whose work has enables Museums to attract a wider audience.

For example the Harbour Festival of Light in Irvine attracted over 15,000 visitors last year.

David Mann, Director of the Scottish Maritime Museum says: “We are thrilled to see the passion, creativity and expertise Fiona has brought to the Museum in her role as Curator of Art recognised with this UK national award.

“Within two years, Fiona has created what is fast becoming a very exciting, national art collection which beautifully enriches our national maritime heritage collection.

“She has also been instrumental in the creation of illumination, an extraordinary festival which not only engages new audiences with the Museum but has become an important element of our work helping drive the success of our local community.”
