An Irvine teenager has said she is safe and well after being missing since last week.

Fifteen-year-old Megan Niven was last seen at Kilwinning Train Station around 9pm on Wednesday, November 22.

However family members have said Megan has now made contact with them to say she is okay and in Glasgow.

Aunt Siobhan Niven said: "Megan Niven has made contact and is safe and well.

"Thank you to everyone who shared and took part in the effort to find her."

Megan Niven was last seen at Kilwinning Train Station around 9pm on Wednesday, November 22.

Earlier Inspector Lynsey Watters said: “Megan has gone missing before but she is only 15 and no-one has seen or heard from her since Wednesday, so we are becoming increasingly concerned.

"In the past, Megan has visited the Irvine, Glasgow, Paisley and Lanarkshire areas and enquiries are being carried out in those areas.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen Megan or who has any information as to her whereabouts to contact us. We would also appeal to Megan to let us know she is okay.”
