IRVINE Lasses Burns Club celebrated the life of the Bard at their Burns Supper last week.

The lasses, who regularly meet at the Wellwood Centre to celebrate the life and works of Robert Burns in the company of like-minded people, held the celebration at Irvine’s Hallmark Hotel on Saturday, February 3.

A selection of Burns songs were provided by Karin Stewart accompanied by Ann Miller.

The Address to the Haggis and readings were given by Willie Dick.

The Toast to the Laddies was ably proposed by Leighanne Cosgrove and replied to by Allen Paterson.

The vote of thanks was given in verse by Vice President Rosemary Murdoch, while The Immortal Memory was given by Dr Rhona Brown.

Secretary Barbara Mcinnes said: “It was a very good night and Rhona Brown was excellent, she is originally from New Cumnock.

“The feedback from those who attended was good and an enjoyable night was had by all.”
