ABBEY Primary pupils celebrated the bard in style last week during the school’s Primary 7 Burns Supper.

The top table and haggis were piped into the room by David Jack, with the address to the haggis given by pupils Lucy Nelson, Rachel Walker and Boyd Scott.

Pupils then performed Auld Lang Syne on the Glockenspiels, a rendition of the poem Street Talk by JK Annand, before Boyd Scott played The Campbells Are Coming on the piano.

The Toast to the Lassies was given by pupils Reiss McLaughlin, Kyle Palmer, Scott Nicoll, Euan McClelland and David Seggie with the reply of the Lassies to the Laddies given by Nicole Wright, Lucy Nelson, Caitlin McLean, Nicole Postlethwaite and Shannon Boyd.

Primary 7 class also performed the song Rid Yo-Yo by Matt McGinn, Nae Accoontin For Folk by Angus Glen, and read an extract from Tam O’ Shanter.

Pupils Sophie McTaggart, Bryan Watterson, Larissa Walker, Kayla Gardiner, Connor Nelson, Ryan McNeil, Kiera McLeod, Ella Reeve, Stewart McAvoy, Harvie McLaughlin, Amy Jack, Leona McKay, Eve Galloway, Aimee Smith-McGowan, Meadow McLeish and Rachel Walker danced The Virginia Reel.

The vote of thanks was given by Larissa Walker and Brodie Lennox before the top table, guests and pupils were piped into the dinner hall for haggis, neeps and tatties.
