A man was arrested and charged for allegedly carrying a knife after a stop and search by cycling officers.
A 42-year-old Irvine man was arrested and charged by police in relation to the recovery of a knife in Wallace Road, Irvine at around 11.10am on Saturday, March 3,
The man will be held in police custody to appear at court.
Sergeant Jason Peter, of the Irvine Locality Policing Team, said: “This recovery by local officers on cycle patrol today demonstrates that stop and search remains a valuable policing tactic which helps prevent, investigate and detect crime.
“The Code of Practice on the use of Stop and Search came into effect in May 2017 and puts individuals’ rights at the centre of any decision to search a person while providing clear guidance to officers on conducting and recording searches.
“I would encourage anyone with concerns about crime in their community to contact their local policing team by calling 101.”
