A FOOTBALL fan who had been going to Somerset Park since he was five faces a ban from the ground.

Ali Ahmed, of Kerse Terrace, Rankinston admitted behaving in an abusive manner and causing fear and alarm as he made his way towards the match with Rangers at Somerset Road on Sunday, February 11.

Ahmed repeatedly shouted at supporters of the opposing team, gesticulated towards them in a threatening manner and challenged them to a fight before lashing out at them.

The incident occurred at Back Hawkhill Avenue.

Defence solicitor, Tony Currie said: “Mr Ahmed is regretful for this. He has been going to the football ground since he was five with his grandfather.”

Sheriff Cunninghame said: “I have read all of that. If he does not behave properly the court will put a football ban on him.”

Addressing the dock Sheriff Cunninghame added: “The court will consider if a football ban is appropriate in the circumstances.”

Sentence has been deferred for nine months for Ahmed to be of good behaviour.
