A WOMAN punched a man she believed to have stolen her bank card

Jill Kelly, of Ardfin Road, admitted punching her ex-partner’s friend on the head on November 14 last year at his home in Prestwick.

On November 24 Kelly was ordered not to enter ex-partner’s home as a bail condition, but did so on February 3 and February 9.

The 62-year-old appeared before Sheriff Carole Cunninghame at Ayr Sheriff Court last week. The court heard how the witnesses were in the living room watching T.V.

The deput fiscal said: “At 9.30pm Jill Kelly attended and went into the living room. She sat on the couch and asked her ex partner’s friend to go to the shops for her but he refused.

“Due to this Kelly punched the witness to the side of the head. At 12.15am on November 20, the witness contacted the police saying Kelly had attended the home in Prestwick even though she had bail conditions not to approach him.

“When police attended they observed the accused sitting on the couch with him. At 4.05am on November 23 the accused was at the house in Prestwick. She was unaware the victim was within and was still subject to bail conditions.

“The witnesses contacted police who advised her to leave. At 10.20pm she returned knowing the witness was there.”

Defence solicitor, John Gallagher, said: “Ms Kelly was granted bail in respect of an assault. A number of people congregate to take alcohol.

“The man who owns the house is Ms Kelly’s ex-partner. She believed his friend was responsible for the theft of her bank card. She was then granted bail on November 20.”

Addressing the dock, Sheriff Cunninghame, said: “You have heard the court’s observations and you have to deal with these [alcohol] issues as a matter of urgency.

“If you don’t you will breach the order and you might face jail.”

Kelly was given a 12 month community payback order and must attend alcohol counselling.
