RESIDENTS hope to unite to revive Irvine’s Christmas lights after their switch on sparked outrage last year.

Despite Christmas being eight months away, Irvine community councillors hope to generate interest in forming a new committee to organise and fund better lights.

This is after members discussed negative feedback last year’s lights received at their past two meetings.

Residents, business owners and councillors attended to feedback their concerns and ideas for this year’s Christmas lights.

It was agreed that the Community Council would hold a public meeting for the purpose of generating interest in a new community group solely for the planning and fundraising of new Christmas Lights.

The meeting will be held from 7pm to 9pm on Monday, April 9 at the Volunteer Rooms.
