ARDROSSAN Accies Rugby Club were fortunate to host a touring side from Canada on March 31.

Sasquatch RFC U18s attended Memorial Field with Boys and Girls U18 sides both represented.

The opportunity came when Development Officer Andy Duncan picked up an email with a fixture request for a touring boys and girls team looking for games on the Easter weekend which Ardrossan happy obliged. This was held on the last day of a long tour for the Canadians having spent the first week over in Ireland before having week two in Scotland with a trip to the Ayrshire coast as their final game before making the trip to Edinburgh for the Gunners Pro14 fixture against Cardiff Blues.

The U18 fixtures were both competitive with Ardrossan raising a team for the girls through girls already playing at the Club and some local School girls with an interest in Rugby while the U18 boys team used this as an end of season send off fixture with the last of the competitive fixtures last week.

In the end of the day, both games were won by the Canadian outfit winning the boys game by a try with the final play of the game and the girls a little more comfortable with their stronger more game experienced girls coming through in the end.

The day was finished off with some great "scran" laid on by the fantastic club volunteers, a thank you speech from Club President Brian Campbell and a return thanks from staff accompanying Sasquatch RFC before captains from each team exchanged some memorabilia.
