A man was stabbed in the early hours of Friday morning with police treating the incident as an attempted murder.
The man was attacked and stabbed at an address in Irvine's Old Caley Road just after midnight and is said to be in a serious but stable condition.
No arrests have yet been made but police say they are treating the incident as an attempted murder.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to an address on Old Caley Road at 12.20am on Friday morning after reports that a man had been attacked and stabbed.
"The man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.
"Officers are treating the attack as an attempted murder and our enquiries are continuing.
