PROMOTING Kilwinning have revealed that John and Mary Boyd will crown this year’s Segdoune King, Scott Shaw on Saturday, June 9.

They have invited John and Mary to crown Scott in recognition of their over 40 years service to the children and young people of Kilwinning, especially as officers of the Kilwinning Boys Brigade.

Mary said: “John and I are honoured to be asked to crown the first Segdoune King.”

Joe Broussard, Chair for Promoting Kilwinning said: “We are very excited about having a Segdoune King this year. It makes this year’s Segdoune Royal Crowning extra special and a historic event.”

Promoting Kilwinning are planning a big parade, the crowning, entertainment, craft and charity stalls and fun fair rides.

The programme for the day will be: 11:00: Welcome and start of Entertainment on Main Stage. Stalls open on Main Street Fun fair rides open on Main Street and Woodwynd Car park

12:30: Segdoune Royal Parade leaves Kilwinning Academy Car park and travels up Dalry Road turning left onto Howgate, turning left onto Lauchlan Way, turning right onto Church Street and then right up the Main Streetto the stage.

13:15: Approx arrival of Royal party and parade at main stage.

13:30: Crowning of Scott Shaw as Segdoune King 2018 by John and Mary Boyd.

14:00: Entertainment on stage, stalls and Fun Fair.

16:00: Entertainment on stage finishes, stalls and small children’s rides on Main Street finish.

21:00: Fun Fair ends.

As always, the organisers hope there is good weather but Kilwinning loves a parade and carnival and never lets the crowds down, rain or shine.
