A well-received play looking into the fishing industry will be coming to the Harbourside next month.

Set somewhere on the Ayrshire coast, The Price Of A Fish Supper by Catherine Czerkawska explores the demise of the fishing industry as seen through the reminiscences of the central character, Rab.

Like a modern day ‘ancient mariner ‘, Rab relates his riveting story of love, rivalry and disaster.

It is a story about the human suffering at the heart of this most hazardous of traditional occupations.

This one-man play is at once tragic and funny, holding out, by the end, the faintest glimmer of hope for the future.

The Price of a Fish Supper which was first staged in Glasgow at the Òran Mór ‘s A Play, A Pie and a Pint season.

The debut Ayrshire production at the Gaiety Theatre last September was so successful that The Price of a Fish Supper has started touring rural venues across the county supported by Ayrshire Rural Touring Network.

Pictured is Ken O’Hara who will be reprising the role of Rab for the tour.

The show will be staged at Irvine’s Harbour Arts Centre on June 8 with tickets available for £10 £8 (concession).

The play, directed by Isi Nimmo, contains strong language and adult themes – recommended for 16+.
