TWO St Matthew’s pupils have been granted bursaries from Irvine Burns Club.
This will enable them to attend this year’s Scots Language summer school - Aye Can! - at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in July.
Lucy Fulton S1 and Susanna Brandon S2 were nominated by Mrs Bruce, principal teacher music, for their interest and involvement in Scottish Traditional Music, both as singers and as musicians.
The two-day summer school is a hands-on creative event designed to enhance their performance skills and to stimulate their interest in Scots Language through exposure to the works of Burns, Fergusson and others.
There are only 30 places in the summer school, at the end of which the students perform a short collaborative programme that they will have created.
