AN IRVINE woman is facing jail after biting an elderly man and hitting an 80-year-old woman with a table.

Yvonne Marshall appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and admitted to a string of shocking assaults on two elderly people and two police officers.

The court heard the 59-year-old from Dickson Drive, attacked the 80-year-old woman in The Portal on January 31 this year, smacking her with a table which caused a cup of tea to spill on her.

In a separate incident on March 7 Marshall was on a bus travelling through Paterson Avenue when she attacked a 77-year-old man, biting him on the hand.

The court heard the following day Marshall was in High Street in Irvine when she started behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, and began shouting and swearing.

When police arrived Marshall lashed out and attacked two officers, attempting to kick and bite them before trying to assault one of them with her handbag.

Marshall appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and pled guilty to four charges of assault and one charge of threatening and abusive behaviour.

Sherriff Hanlon adjourned the case for reports.

Marshall was remanded in custody and will return to court next month for sentencing.
