FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a grass fire in Irvine today.
Crews were called to the fire at Carrick Drive just before 3pm today. NO one was injured and crews managed to get the fire under control.
Residents living in Castlepark reported experiencing black smoke and soot debris in their streets.
A spokesman said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 2.49pm on Monday, June 25 to reports of a grass fire at Carrick Drive, Irvine.
“Operations Control immediately mobilised a number of fire engines to the area, where firefighters extinguished the fire.
“There were no casualties.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
