A recent charity Golfathon raised more than £13,000 for the Ayrshire Hospice.

Kilwinning golfer Rikki Black, alongside his son Ewan, pictured, raised the astonishing sum during an annual charity event at Irvine Golf Club.

The pair played from first light at 3.45am, all the way through to last light 10.35pm - in the process walking over 74 kilometres in blistering heat and constant sunshine.

The team raised £2,594 from donations on Justgiving – and were delighted to also receive a cheque of £10,000 this year from Skyline direct.

The company also paid out £5 for every hole played on the day, adding £850 to the sum.

Rikki said: “I’d like to thank everyone though there’s far too many to mention. We raised a lot more than I thought we were going to get.

"We never quite beat last year’s record because of the heat, but we were delighted.”
