A SHOPPER had a near miss in Irvine this week after a shop sign fell off the front of the building and landed on her.

The shopfront sign of the Barnardo’s in Bridgegate collapsed at the weekend on to a passer-by who narrowly escaped serious injury.

An ambulance was called and paramedics were able to treat the woman for minor injuries at the scene.

Bridgegate shop manager Carol Drummond today apologised to the woman and confirmed she was not seriously injured.

She told the Times: “We can confirm there was an incident at our shop in Irvine involving one of our customers.

“Paramedics were called as a precaution but thankfully after a thorough examination the customer was seen to have no lasting injuries and was able to go home.

“We would like to offer our sincere apologies to our customer and thank her and her family for their patience and understanding.”
