The family of tragic Leo Williamson have smashed their £2,000 target after a year of fundraising in his memory.

Little Leo, who would have been starting primary school next week, died in March, 2016 before getting a life-saving heart transplant, despite spending two months on the NHS’s “urgent” list.

Now, more than two years on, Leo’s mum Sharlene and sister Lauren have raised £2,430 for the charity Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) after spending the last year taking part in various charity challenges.

Last week Sharlene, 40 and Lauren, 17, took part in their most daring challenges yet - a sponsored skydive.

Sharlene said she had precious Leo on her mind to get her through the daredevil stunt.

She said: “It was amazing. I kept waiting on the nerves kicking in but they never did. I had Leo on my mind and after everything he went through, I decided jumping out a plane was nothing by comparison.”

Sharlene and Lauren decided last year to sign up for various challenges - including the 26-mile Kilt Walk and a zipslide across the Clyde - to raise money for CHAS and in particular Robin House because of how they helped the family through the darkest days of Leo’s illness.

Sharlene, of Montgomery Park, said: “Leo loved it at Robin House. We spent his last Christmas there so it is somewhere that has always been special to us as a family.”
