VILE vandals have defaced two roundabout road signs in Irvine with sickening sectarian slogans.

Mindless yobs plastered large posters with the words “f**k h**s” and “You will win nothing, you will do nothing, you will always be nothing”, and “f**k the h**s” on to two round abouts in Girdle Toll.

In one picture an eagle-eyed snapper actually caught the vandals in the act as they were sticking the vile posters to the Hill Roundabout, which sits next to the BP garage near Montgomerie Park and Girdle Toll.

The second lot of posters were stuck to Stanecastle Roundabout, less than one mile away.

Council bosses today confirmed the posters had been removed.

A spokesperson said: “The offensive slogans at Hill Roundabout and Stanecastle Roundabout were removed by the Streetscene Rapid Response Team on Friday (August 17).

“Some further work is to be done at Stanecastle as stickers were used and specialised equipment is needed so we can remove them in full. This has also been reported to Police Scotland for investigation.”

Police Scotland are appealing for information and witnesses following the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said “We are continuing enquiries into this incident with officers going door to door and carrying out a review of CCTV in the general area.

“Adding unauthorised items to road signs can be dangerous and, as happened in this case, can cause damage which reduces the effectiveness of the sign and is costly to repair.

“I would appeal to anyone with information on those responsible to contact us by calling 101 and quoting incident number 3992 of 20/08/18.”
