IRVINE could be getting its first drive-thru coffee shop if council chiefs give plans the green light.

A planning application to install a drive-thru coffee shop a the BP garage in Girdle Toll is under consideration by North Ayrshire Council’s planning department.

If approved the coffee shop would create nine jobs and be open from 7am until 10pm daily.

The application, submitted by JMS Planning and Development on behalf of Motor Fuel Limited, was submitted to NAC’s planning department on Monday, August 13.

The application states they are seeking: “Planning permission for the erection of a new coffee shop including drive thru facility with associated car parking, cycle parking, landscaping and associated works at Girdle Toll Service Station, Littlestone Road, Long Drive, Irvine.”

According to planning documents the original planning permission, which dates back to 1998, already approved plans for a drive-thru at the site.

Planners say the coffee shop, if approved, will be both modern and spacious.
