Irvine Library’s Christmas carol singalong event is returning for the first time since 2019 later this week.

On Thursday December 15, from 10am until 1pm, singers of all ages from North Ayrshire will take to the library to sing carols alongside local keyboardist Elizabeth Shirley.

The event is being held in the library after two years of taking place online due to the effects of Covid-19.

Councillor Alan Hill, North Ayrshire Council's cabinet member for islands and communities, said: “I would encourage any local residents who have the time to please show your support and come along to start this year’s festivities with talented local singer Elizabeth Shirley at Irvine Library’s annual Christmas Singalong.

“After the last few years of hosting events remotely, this is a fantastic chance to get together with other people in the community once again and spread some seasonal cheer and excitement.”

Council officers from Trading Standards will also be there to answer residents’ questions and give advice on spotting scammers this festive period.

Community officers from Police Scotland’s Ayrshire Division will also be there to give residents information to help them to stay safe this winter.

Mince pies and tea and coffee will be provided for those in attendance.
