A KILMARNOCK man has denied a charge of stamping on the head of a second man at a property in his home town.

The Crown alleges that Kenneth Parris, 37, of Croe Place entered the other man's address uninvited, seized him and dragged him by the body, repeatedly punched and kicked him on the head, causing him to fall to the ground, stamping on his head and causing him to lose consciousness, all to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The incident is said to have taken place in New Street in Riccarton on March 16, 2023.

Kilmarnock Sheriff Court was told that Parris, who was not present in court, had not been served with the formal indictment setting out the accusation against him until a few days before the hearing.

His solicitor told the court Parris was pleading not guilty.

The case was continued until next month and Parris was granted bail in his absence.
