IRVINE'S SECRET TUNNEL

A DYNAMIC Irvine historian has unearthed the exact location of secret ancient tunnels underneath the town that could link it to Kilwinning.

In a Times exclusive, AJ Morton, the archivist who sparked a frenzy when he revealed the local connection to the Holy Grail, has discovered that legends about an underground tunnel leading from Stanecastle are TRUE.

And he has linked the routes to the Knights Templar, who made the area one of their strongest bases.
