IRVINE Meadow fans have reacted angrily to reports that they performed a u-turn by giving the green light to plans to move from Meadow Park.
Last week local reports claimed that season ticket holders unanimously voted in favour of "approving" the plans for the £40m development to the back of Bank Street.
But club secretary Iain McQueen told the Times that they had simply backed a progression of the planning application - admitting that there was potential for the move to go either way.
The fans had previously vented their anger, concerned that the new stadium in the development would not be owned by the club, unlike Meadow Park.
And there has been anger at claims they did an about face to back the plans.
One fan contacted the Times and said: "Nowhere was there a mention of approving the plans, that is nonsense.
"It was agreed that the club committee would continue to look at the plans and come back to us for more discussions."
Meadow General Secretary Iain McQueen told us that the unanimous decision to continue with the planning application was made. But he admitted that there was a lot of work to be done behind the scenes to make the plans acceptable to the supporters.
