Hopes rise as town centre welcomes new stores
IRVINE town centre is showing "positive" signs of economic recovery, according the boss of the Rivergate Shopping Centre.
Manager Patrick Robbertze told the Times that the area was recovering gradually from the impact of the economic downturn, with substantial interest in a number of vacant units in the mall.
And with further new stores opening or expanding in the town, MP Brian Donohoe expressed his hopes.
"I'm under no illusion that we are still suffering from high unemployment...but the more people coming into the town centre the better."
