TRAGEDY AS MOTORCYCLIST DIES

Police seek witnesses to Bourtreehill incident

A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a road crash in Irvine earlier today.

The crash happened around 6.30am in Cairnsmore Way, Bourtreehill and involved a Ford Transit van and a Honda motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, a 49 year-old man, was transferred to Crosshouse Hospital where sadly he died a short time later.

A woman, who was driving the van, was uninjured but badly shaken.

A report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal.

Constable Alan Fanning is continuing enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Road Policing Department at Ayr on 01292 664044.
