'Attempted murder' at Irvine nightclub
POLICE are treating an attack outside an Irvine nightclub at the weekend as attempted murder.
Around 11pm on Friday night, a 31-year-old man was injured during an altercation with two other men outside Pitchers, Bank Street, Irvine.
He was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock where hospital staff describe his condition as stable.
The first suspect is described as white, 5ft 5 in height and wearing a grey hooded top.
The second suspect is described as of Asian appearance, 6ft to 6ft3 in height and wearing a white long-sleeved top.
Detective Constable Fiona Fowlis of Saltcoats Police Office said today: "There is a taxi-rank on Bank Street, next to where the incident took place and it would have been very busy around 11pm on Friday night.
"I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information who has not yet come forward to police to contact my office on 01294 404500. Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
A 21 year-old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with the incident.
