A MAN has denied trying to lure a young girl into his car in Irvine.

Mohammed Imran Ellahi, 29, is charged with attempting to entice the girl, then aged 15, into his car in Livingstone Terrace, placing her in a state of fear and alarm.

And he is then alleged to have made racial remarks about Scottish women as he was dealt with by police officers at Kilmarnock police station.

Ellahi is also accused of driving while banned from the roads during the incident in May 2007.

And he is alleged to have smashed into a fence in the same street, reportedly failing to stop and give his details to the owner of the property.

Ellahi, of Geach Street, Birmingham, is also accused of giving a false name, address and date of birth to officers in an attempt to pervert the course of justice.

He had previously pled not guilty to attempting to entice a girl into his vehicle, driving while disqualified and without insurance, failing to provide

details following an accident, making racial remarks and attempting to pervert the course of justice at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

His trial continues at the court later in the month.
