AN IRVINE man has been accused of smashing into two passing cars after illegally racing another motor.

Kevin Gerrard Brown, of Cairngorm Court, is charged with dangerous driving as he allegedly raced against a Ford Focus being driven by Ryan Andrews, 19.

Brown, 26, reportedly drove at excessive speed along the A76 Kilmarnock to Mauchline Road, overtaking when it was unsafe to do so.

And he is then alleged to have caused his vehicle to collide with two vehicles before forcing another to take evasive action.

The car which reportedly swerved out of the road is said to have mounted roadside verge and overturned.

Both Brown's and the other three cars are reported to have been damaged in the incident.

Andrews, driving the other vehicle, is also charged with dangerous driving, undertaking vehicles using a bus lane and being involved in racing Brown, causing the collision already mentioned to take place.

Brown made no plea at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week. Andrews, of Sorn, Galston, pled not guilty by letter.

He will stand trial later in the year.
