POLICE are appealing for information following reports of thefts from vehicles in the area and encouraging motorists to review their security.
Overnight between Monday and Tuesday last week a Ford Transit van was entered while parked in Castlekeep Gardens, Irvine with the perpetrator making off with power tools.
Previously, between Sunday January 8 and Tuesday, January 10, power tools were also stolen from a Ford Transit van parked in Townfoot Lane, Dreghorn.
PC Otanez, of the Irvine Locality Policing Team, said: “We are today reminding vehicle owners to remove all valuables from their vehicle, to ensure their vehicles are secure and are appealing to the community to report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
“Over £4,000 worth of tools have been stolen in these incidents – this will undoubtedly have a detrimental effect on the victim’s ability to work and earn a living.
“We are committed to working with the community to tackle crime in the area and would appeal to anyone with any information on these incidents or indeed anyone who may have been offered tools for sale recently to make contact with us.”
Police can be contacted by calling the national non-emergency number on 101 and in emergencies dial 999. Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
