Two people have been arrested following the recovery of alleged class A drugs, suspected to be heroin, in Irvine.

About 8.05pm hours on Thursday, May 11 officers from the Ayrshire Division Proactive Crime Team attended a property in East Broomlands, Irvine in possession of a Sheriff search warrant.

A quantity of alleged class A drugs were recovered during a search of the property.

A 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were arrested for alleged possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply and held in police custody to appear at Court.

Sergeant Jason Peter, of the Irvine Locality Policing Team, said "local people have identified drug supply and drug misuse as one of the top priorities for local policing.

"We are committed to keeping people safe and will act on information provided to us. Drugs cause untold misery in our communities and we will continue to work with local people and our partners to identify those involved in their supply and bring them to justice."
