Labour’s candidate for Central Ayrshire says he would be the greatest champion for everyone in the area if elected.

Nairn McDonald says he has used his two terms as a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament and over six years as a member of Kilwinning Community Council as evidence of his proven track record for standing up and delivering for the people of this area.

Mr McDonald said: “I have served my community and my peers as both a local and national voice for a combined time of nearly a decade. Whether it was being a Kilwinning Community Councillor, a Member and Director of the Scottish Youth Parliament or as Chair or Vice-Chair of Local Community Groups I have shown that my dedication and experience are well proven and my record is there to be seen.

"Some have sought to make this election about my age and my perceived lack of experience compared to some of my opponents but what I hope to show them is my track record is strong and my dedication unquestionable.

"I have served on Kilwinning Community Council for nearly six years; on this elected body I have served a strong voice for my area and always sought to stand up for the issues we all feel are important.

"I was a twice elected Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament for four years; in my last year as an MSYP I served as a Trustee and lead the Parliament’s Poverty: See It, Change It campaign and being the Trustee with the portfolio for the West of Scotland.

"I served for a number of years as Vice Chair of Promoting Kilwinning (The group behind the Christmas Lights and Segdoune Carnival) and I served as the Inaugural Chair of Kilwinning Community Events (The group behind the revival of the Kilwinning Fireworks).

"I want to fight this election of the different visions for our country not on age; Labour seek to create a fairer, more equal and more just society. A Society where the country is run for the majority of its people not the few at the top.

"The choice at this election is clear; A Tory government for the few or a Labour government for the many. I will be out across the area on the doors, on the phone, and online."
