A special event has been staged to shine a light on the magnificent work carried out to keep people safe across North Ayrshire.

The Protecting People in North Ayrshire event - organised by North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership – was the first of its kind in the area and is aimed at those who work or volunteer in North Ayrshire.

North Ayrshire Chief Executive Elma Murray welcomed delegates to the event at Irvine’s Fullarton Connexions.

Organisations such as North Ayrshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership, Community Justice Ayrshire, the Adult Protection Committee, Violence Against Women North Ayrshire, the Child Protection Committee and MAPPA, the Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements, were represented.

The aim of the event was to promote the sterling work carried out by each of the organisations and explain how they work together and individually to protect North Ayrshire’s people.

Themes covered in the event included child protection, addictions, management of serious offenders, community justice and criminal justice.

Donna McKee, Interim Head of Service, Children, Families and Criminal Justice at of of North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “This has been a great opportunity for those who work or volunteer in the sector.”
