THE DOG saved from Irvine Harbour on Monday has found her way back home.

Kiara, was saved in a dramatic fashion by the Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team at 5pm on Monday after receiving calls of a dog in distress.

Kiara was trapped underneath the harbour and was nearing the point of exhaustion.

The Coastguard got a message from Kiara's owners on Wednesday following her safe return home.

The unidentified owners said: " Hello - I would just like to express my dearest thanks for saving my poor little husky from the water on Monday evening, she managed to get off her leash and ran and we couldn't find her.

"But with the help of the public and your amazing team she is now home safe and sound and back to the pampered pooch she is.

"You saved an adored member of our family and a very large piece of my heart therefor no level of thanks would come even close to how grateful I am! You do an amazing job and I plan on making a donation to help your cause in due course.

"Thanks again from all of us, Kiara, and the rest of the families you help on a daily basis."

The Coastguard Rescue Team said: "We are all glad Kiara is recovering well and hope her next visit to the coast is a little bit less dramatic and thank you for your kind words."
