Membership of the WASPI campaign group has soared after the controversial statement from Pensions Minister Guy Opperman last week.

The group, who campaign against the state pension age increase for 50s-born women, saw membership leap by 140 in 48 hours.

During the debate, the Minister was heckled by opposition MPs for suggesting that women over the age of 60 facing financial hardship could start an apprenticeship.

Ann Fraser, Ayrshire WASPI coordinator will be in the Cumnock Library on Tuesday, July 25 between 11am-12pm to assist any women affected, with their DWP letters of complaint.

Due to the large number and momentum of complaints being actioned by WASPI; the DWP will be setting up a new dedicated team in October 2017 to investigate the hundreds of complaint letters already received.
