North Ayrshire residents will soon be able to watch council meetings from the comfort of their own homes - three years after the idea was first mooted.
Back in October 2013, it was reported that ‘webcasting’ would soon be started at North Ayrshire Council’s HQ in Cunninghame House which would mean a live stream of certain meetings on their website.
However many obstacles have stood in the way of this, mainly budget issues.
It will just be the full council meetings that will be streamed to begin with but this could expand to other meetings.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “Our plans to webcast Full Council meetings are at an advanced stage and we anticipate that the service will go live in the very near future.
“If the webcasting service is successful, then the possibility of extending our online broadcasting to further committees will be considered.”
