A 14-YEAR-OLD girl has been found dead in an Irvine park.
Police are investigating after the teenager was discovered in Bourtreehill Park at around 11.45am today (Monday, September 11).
A name has not yet been released but the Times understands her family have been informed.
Police Scotland say her death is being treated as unexplained until a post mortem is carried out.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police Scotland is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 14-year-old girl found dead within Bourtreehill Park, Irvine around 11:45am on Monday, September 11, 2017.
"The death is being treated as unexplained. It is anticipated that a post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
